    Learning the bank

I began on a management trainee programme at a smaller bank, working across the organisation before settling in risk management. I saw how the whole bank fits together before I specialised.

    Turning analysis into systems

At my next bank I moved from measuring risk to building the tools that measure it, replacing manual calculations with automated ones.

In Markets Finance my view widened from single calculations to whole processes and controls, as part of a large transformation programme.

Getting close to the balance sheet

Senior Manager, Liquidity & Interest Rate Risk Management

In Corporate and Investment Banking Treasury I partnered with Global Markets, working where the business, funding and the balance sheet meet. This is where risk, finance and markets came together for me.

    Leading at Group level

Director – Head of Liquidity Optimisation

I joined Group Treasury in 2020, and my work became Group-wide, across around 60 countries. I first played a lead part in building the Group's internal liquidity model. I then led the Group's global liquidity optimisation programme, so that liquidity became something the bank actively manages rather than only measures. Today I lead the liquidity transfer pricing work within the Group's FTP programme, changing how liquidity is priced across the Group.

My work is with the Treasury executive committee, CFO-level leaders, ALCOs and Board-level forums, and I lead teams across London, Mexico and India.
